Here are a few apps for Apple or Android that can make driving a little easier, safe, or economical.
1. Gas Buddy- This one is pretty well known, and tends to be quite accurate in helping you find the best gas prices in your area. igasup is a similar Apple app.
2. I Wrecked- The is for accident assistance. (Although, if you get in so many accidents that you use this app regularly, perhaps a phone app isn't the help you really need)
3. Around me- This is great if you are new to a city or area. It details places around you from restaurants and bars to hospitals to grocery stores.
4. My Max Speed 2.0 ($4.99)- this is an Android app that tracks your location and speed every 5 seconds using the phone's accelerometer. The info can the be downloaded into a spreadsheet. This is great information to have if you are fighting a ticket, or if you have a teenage driver.
5. Trapster- This app alerts you to traffic cameras, red light cameras, and live speed traps.
6. RepairPal- If you need to have a repair done to your car, you can enter the info and get a fair estimate and tell you what shops in the area are recommended.
7. AAA Mobile- You don't have to be a AAA member to enjoy the benefits of the organization's app. Members can also use the app for roadside assistance.
As always, don't try to use these apps while you are driving. And of course, we recommend Driver's Choice Service for all of your automotive service needs.
